Win a Signed Copy of Rick Riordan’s latest!

THE RED PYRAMID is filled with action, adventure and mythology, only this time, Riordan’s characters take on Egyptian gods and monsters.

Like King Midas, Riordan has the magic touch. Kids have simply gone cuckoo for his Greek myth-based LIGHTNING THIEF series and everybody is expecting this book and series to do the same.

Leave a comment letting me know what Greek or Egyptian god, goddess or monster you would want to be and you’ll be entered to win a free autographed copy of THE RED PYRAMID.

As for me, because I’ve been writing about Cleopatra VII, I want to walk like an Egyptian. I’m thinking of sticking with Shezmu, god of the underworld that crushes the heads of bad guys in a wine press.

But then again, I do like Amut the Destroyer, the crocodile-headed monster that devours your heart if you don’t pass the Weighing of the Heart test. Bastet is pretty cool, as is Anubis, the jackal-headed God of the Underworld.

I can’t decide.

Kitty what do you think? Bastet or Anub…wait, don’t walk away!

Sigh.

Doggie, what about you? Awwww, that clinches it.

Anubis wins by a lick! Good doggie.

I want to be Aphrodite, because I'm a sucker for love. (And I'm definitely a sucker for anything by Rick Riordan!)

I would want to be Seshet (the Egyptian godess of writing and measurement) because I love writing.

I'm kinda partial to Athena, too. I mean, popping out in full armor is impressive, right? And if I had her kind of wisdom, maybe I could think up an amazing series!

I have to go with Anubis, even though he was god of the dead and mummification, because he has a jackal head! I love all canines, including jackals.

I'd like to be Athena because she was so worshiped and even had a temple built around her.

I would want to be Hestia. A peace keeper, tending the hearth and no big ego to support. Just there caring and helping where I can.

I'd like to be Aphrodite because I'm getting old and fat. It might be a nice change to be beautiful and shallow!

Thanks guys! I'm loving that so many people want to be the goddess of love or wisdom. I'm kind of partial to the monsters myself...

I'd probably be Antheia, the Goddess of Vegetation, Lowlands, and Marshlands, since I'm a Louisiana-born swamp rat.

I'm posting for Courtney Stevens who (for whatever technical reason) was prevented from posting. She emailed me that: "I would pick Ma'at, because I figure justice is a good thing."

Kinda loving Hathor, the goddess of motherhood and music. (And I have to confess - I had to Google "Egyptian Gods" to answer this! Just not as familiar with them. Which is why I really look forward to Riordan's book, and YOUR book, Vicky! :-) )

ON BEHALF OF TINA NICHOLS COURY: I would be
Bast the Goddess of Cats, because I love my kitties, I love the Red Pyramid, which I am in the middle of and I love Egypt which I've been to twice and would go again in a heart beat. Including Alexandria Cleopatra's Capital.

ON BEHALF OF SUZANNE SMITH: My son said he would want to be Cerebus because 3 heads would be better than 1. He devoured the Lightning Thief series and is anxious to read the Red Pyramid. I'm really looking forward to the new series too!

I'm going with Anubis because there can't possibly be vacuuming in the underworld. Is there fire and brimstone in the underworld? I hope not because it isn't a very faltering light and tends to make me look old and tired, but then again, I do like Smores.
Was it taboo in Cleo's day to be left-handed?

ON BEHALF OF HALEY: I would choose Isis because how cool is it that she saved Osiris??!

I'd want to be Athena but would wind up being a closet Aphrodite because I'm a sucker for love! And I love Rick Riordan!
