Contest for Novel Set in Ancient Greece

I really, really want to read Gary Corby's debut novel, THE PERICLES COMMISSION. It's been getting wonderful reviews for its combination of mystery, humor and ancient history.

So I was very excited to read about a give-a-way contest for the book at:
http://hatshepsutnovel.blogspot.com/2010/11/pericles-commission-giveaway.html

I promptly entered to win. Now, here's the thing. My impulse is to NOT tell you about it. For Hade's sake, why would I WANT to increase my competition for the book? I should be yelling, "Stay away, stay away! Monstrous beasts be there!"

But no, my better self has prevailed and so here I am, spreading the word about the contest after overcoming my heinous impulse toward selfishness.

What? You don't believe me? How dare you imply that I'm only doing this to improve my chances of winning!

Except, of course, that I am. Only posting this to help my chances to win, that is. And that's because the brilliant blogger at Hatshepsut: The Writing of A Novel, set up the contest this way. We get extra points for posting about the contest on twitter (done), following their blogs (yup), and posting about the contest on our own blogs (sigh).

Actually, I think I should get extra points for refusing to allow my beastly side to get in your face and hiss, "You better not win this book over me or I will CUT you!"

That deserves at least two extra points, don't you think? Wait...why are you backing away from me?  I'm just kidding. Really. I swear.

I'm a little scared to enter this contest, Vicky. But tell you what. If I win the book, I'll let you borrow it. Assuming you stop that hissing.
